Conflicts

If redirects are not working properly there may be a conflict with plugins using template_redirect hook.
This hook is used often by SEO plugins to redirect non existing pages.

Useful if you have a value (a phone number, number of employees) in several pages that can change, so you can change this once from the admin.

It integrates into TinyMCE by adding a menu (compatible also with TinyMCE v.5).

You can choose which users can manage vars.

Security menu

If running ClassicPress 1.1.0 or newer those settings are moved to the Security menu: choose which users can manage vars, what to do with vars when uninstalling and apply shortcodes everywhere

There is a filter called vars_output

An example to capitalize the output.

To provide the most versatile placement options, the estimated read time display is implemented with a shortcode that is designed to be placed in your theme template files. It may require some experimenting to find just the right templates for your particular theme, but you can try the content.php, single.php, archive.php, and page.php templates as a starting point.

Note that the shortcode is designed to work in templates that are in the loop, so you won’t be able to place the shortcode in, say, your header.php or footer.php files. See the examples below and place one or the other into your theme’s template file(s) where you would like the estimated read time to be displayed.

If you are using a theme that is a parent theme (as opposed to a child theme) you will need to be cautious about updating your theme because the update will overwrite all the theme files. To avoid this, you have several options, as follows. Options are listed in the order of preference.
1. use a child theme and add your shortcodes to your child theme’s templates, or
2. use a theme that you built yourself to avoid surprise updates, or
3. carefully copy your shortcodes out of your theme files before updating, then replacing them afterward, or
4. continue using the parent theme, but don’t update it.

Gets the content of a file from a GitHub repository and outputs using the [github-file] shortcode.

Settings allow default options, such as author, folder, filename to be specified. Additional options to allow the removal or conversion of WordPress headers in readme.txt files.

Available shortcode parameters:
- account – account on GitHub
- branch – branch to get file from
- folder – folder containing the file
- file – file to get from GitHub repository
- repository – name of GitHub repository
- startfrom – text in file to start outputting from (e.g. # Description)
- htmlastext – 1 to output HTMl as text and 0 to output as HTML
- shortcodesastext – 1 to output shortcodes as text and 0 to output as shortcode
- wordpresstitles – remove/ignore/convert
All parameters except repository can be defined as defaults in settings.
